Modeling Open IP
As new experiments in open intellectual property rights emerge, it’s critical to analyze impact and consequences and collect templates for open IP agreements. IP rights that prevent or restrict others from reusing, remixing, modifying, or otherwise using research outputs confound nearly all outputs of research.
Goals
- Enable researchers to identify IP rights relevant to their specific research outputs, as well as the implications for reuse
- Create guides and tools that reduce or eliminate restrictions arising from IP rights
- Develop exemplary open IP public-private agreements
- Inform researchers and institutions about commercial options that do not rely on restrictive IP rights
